The voting for the 2011 Artist of the Year Award at the Gramophone Awards, presented this year in association with Steinway & Sons, has opened. To help you make your decision Gramophone has made a podcast in which its critics and editors champion the ten nominees; and you can also listen to a clip from each of their recent releases. Rob Cowan, Bryce Morrison, Jeremy Nicholas, Lindsay Kemp, James Jolly and James Inverne suggest why you might want to vote for one of the outstanding musicians. The nominees this year include a handful of conductors, a couple of pianists, a violinist, a trumpeter…even one of the world's great ensembles.
