Spotify Playlist for Gramophone Hall of Fame

Thursday, May 16, 2013

To mark the digital publication of the June issue of Gramophone, complete with the second tranche of entrants into the Gramophone Hall of Fame, we've created a Spotify playlist for you to enjoy.

From Andrés Segovia playing Albéniz's Suite española to Carlo Maria Giulini conducting Beethoven's Eroica Symphony, there's an extraordinary wealth of music-making of the highest level. Other superb performances include Yo-Yo Ma in Bach's First Cello Suite, Sergiu Celibidache conducting Haydn's Oxford Symphony, Bryn Terfel singing Butterworth, the Berg Violin Concerto from Anne-Sophie Mutter with James Levine conducting (both artists entering the Hall of Fame this year) and Bernard Haitink conducting Debussy's La mer on his Gramophone Award-winning Philips recording with the Concertgebouw Orchestra – a truly classic recording.

Each week we'll be adding to the playlist and including new performances by some of the 50 chosen honorees.

For full information on the 2013 Gramophone Hall of Fame, buy your June issue of Gramophone (in the shops from May 21) or sample the digital version for your iPad or Tablet (available from today).
