The Monteverdi Choir and Sir John Eliot Gardiner are drawing their 50th anniversary celebrations to a close with a concert tomorrow night (Thursday, September 25) at Milton Court in London that features Scarlatti’s Stabat mater, Bach’s Cantata No 199 and Handel’s Dixit Dominus. (Handel’s Dixit Dominus has been a regular repertoire work for the Monteverdi Choir throughout its long career.) The performance will be recorded and made available digitally the next morning via the Monteverdi Choir’s own website priced £5 (audience members can pre-order their download at the concert). The concert will be repeated in Cologne, Vienna and Paris.

Other anniversary plans include a CD release on their own Soli Deo Gloria label of Beethoven’s Symphonies Nos 2 and 8, recorded live at Cadogan Hall (following the Editor’s Choice recording of Nos 5 and 7).
