John Gilhooly, the Chief Executive and Artistic Director of London's Wigmore Hall, has announced that their new programme of live-streamed concerts will begin on January 28 at 8pm (GMT). The first concert will include an interview with Gilhooly (in which he will introduce the 2016/17 season) as well as performances from the Armida Quartet, soprano Anna Lucia Richter, pianist Michael Gees, baritone Andrè Schuen and pianist Daniel Heide.

Gilhooly said, ‘People around the world want to engage with us and we are committed to sharing everything we do with the widest possible audience – from our extensive artistic programme, our dedication to new work and developing artists, our influential Learning programme, and award-winning record label. It is our responsibility to actively promote the arts, to make them as accessible as possible beyond the Hall and into the wider communities, and this is made possible by a new and stronger presence in the digital world.’

Further live-streamed concerts are still to be announced, but plans include a special gala concert on April 21 celebrating Irish culture in Britain.

The live streams will be offered for free and will be available to enjoy at Wigmore Hall's website: wigmore-hall.org.uk/wigmore-hall-live/live-stream
