Barenboim and Waltz discuss the importance of the text in the respective creative disciplines

Today's video is a fascinating conversation between Daniel Barenboim and the actor Christoph Waltz in which they discuss the differences between the texts that they use in performance – for Barenboim the score, for Waltz the script. They also explore how much an artist should 'interpret' precisely what is written on the page, and how important the musician or the actor may be in the creation of a work. As Barenboim says in the course of the conversation: 'In music, the only path that is worthwhile is the path of most resistance.'
