Lisiecki and the Academy of St Martin in the Fields perform the third movement from Beethoven's Second Piano Concerto

Jan Lisiecki won Gramophone's Young Artist of the Year Award at the age of 18 in 2013 and has certainly gone on to fulfil his phenomenal early promise. His new recording for Deutsche Grammophon features Beethoven's five piano concertos in which the pianist is joined by the Academy of St Martin in the Fields. DG have posted a video of the third movement from the Second Concerto on its YouTube channel:

Lisiecki's recording of the Mendelssohn concertos with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra was released earlier this year and was named an Editor's Choice in the April issue. Our writer, Harriet Smith, commented that 'the chamber-like sonorities and intricate interplay – surely the result of this being a conductor-less ensemble – are an endless delight', and it is particularly exciting to see a similar rapport on this new Beethoven album, which will be released on September 13.
