The violinist brings both quiet introspection and high energy to Waltzing Matilda

Last year we reported that the hugely popular violinist Ray Chen had signed an exclusive recording contract with Decca, leaving Sony Classical. Well, now his debut album for the label is about to be released and we are pleased to present the video premiere of Chen performing Waltzing Matilda in inimitable fashion.

Perhaps Chen's most highly regarded recording to date was his account of the Tchaikovsky and Mendelssohn Violin Concertos with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Daniel Harding, which was Gramophone's Recording of the Month in June 2012. You can read the full review in the Reviews Database.

You can pre-order Chen's new album, 'The Golden Age', here: decca.lnk.to/RCGAID
