Behind the scenes as Madam Butterfly filmed in 3D

The music world’s experimental embrace of 3D continues this month with Madam Butterfly.

Filmed at London’s Royal Opera House, the lead role of Cio-Cio-San is taken by soprano Liping Zhang, tenor James Valenti sings Pinkerton and Paul Wynne Griffiths conducts. It’s the second collaboration between the Royal Opera House and film-makers RealD - the first was Carmen – and this time it’s a production by directing duo Moshe Leiser and Patrice Caurier that viewers get to immerse themselves in.

We’d like to show you what it looks like here…but that’s not the point of 3D. You'll need to go to a 3D-equipped cinema for that. It opens nationwide on Monday (March 5) - for full details of where you can watch it, click here.
