What's this I hear? The cavalry approaching? No, it's Sancho Panza, clipperty-clopping into view over the hillock, calling for the simple sword of avoidance and the trusty shield of censorship.

Really Chris, you must try to control your intemperate emotionalism. “Evil troll”! “Evil”? This Biblical hyperbole, this righteous indignation as a cover for avoiding uncomfortable truths, is understandable, given your mutual need to stroke each other's egos, but futile, and not a little embarrassing, don't you think?

And just what is it that you want a moderator to do? Ban everyone who draws attention to your friend's sleights of hand? Well, it would be a very long list now, wouldn't it? And be careful what you wish for. It wasn't so long ago that Parla took on one of the moderators (AE, I think) and made a bigger fool of himself than usual in the process.

Unless you achieve the censorship you want (don't hold your breath on that one – who knows how your friend is regarded at GM Towers?) the choices stated above remain: challenge and hold to account, look the other way, or leave. For your own reasons, you choose the second; I was on the point of the third, but then you turned up and made the first even more worthwhile.

Take your friend's advice and stick to music Chris. On that ground you retain your dignity.

Thank you for that. Your

Thank you for that. Your refusal to second my request for a moderator tells me all I needed about you Vic.

I rest my case....

Do let me know what these needs are, Chris, and I will do my best to fulfil them  - within the bounds of decency, morality and legality, of course.

Obviously this Forum is already moderated, it's just that the moderator is not doing what you want her/him to do: censor at your bidding.  In the past, when Forum rules have been broken, retribution followed.  (Though I can only think of one instance where it was needed: the foul-mouthed Brodsky character, whose support for you and your friend you were always ready to quote against me, if I remember correctly.)   Unfortunately for you, Forum rules don't include the exclusion of dissent and the enforcement of "peace at any price."  Or protecting you from a bit of rib-tickling.
