As for the extreme situations...

Life and death (along with love) situations are the prime subjects of Classical Music.

Indeed, as Wagner says in the Lovedeath -

Mild und leise...höchste Lust!

I tried to raise this in a separate section of the forum, to no avail.

If the Gramophone player is being withdrawn, can the magazine please state so clearly and unambiguously.  I have been checking every few days and not seen any update to the player.

If all excerpts are to be made soley via paying services such as Qobuz, then the effective cost of the magazine has gone up even more.  I am already about to be asked to pay 50% more than last year, and I don't see why.  The problem for me with the new review database, the claimed benefit, is the limited timespan.  The current archive is complete, alebit not so easy to search, but it works for me.

So I may have to desert the magazine after 30 years or so because of hidden costs (to Apple/Qobuz) and unwarranted increases to the subscription.  I don't want to, but I may have to.

And if the text of this post appears to be a bit wonky, every preview I have tried does not show precisely what I have typed, particularly at the start - I have no idea why.

Agree with timepassingham

I would add that I want to read a magazine, not faff about on my computer. I may as well cancel my subscription and listen to CD Review instead.
