... how well Richard Osborne's biography of Karajan was received  (the compelling biopic on BBC 4 last Friday has sent me back to this excellent book) ...

Agreed on its excellence - I

Agreed on its excellence - I learned quite a lot about 20th century history, not just Karajan, from it. I wish RO reviewed more for Gramophone - he's a class above most of the team.

The BBC show's highlight for me was the accounts of Karajan's last year.

 

Seems like one had to die twice for that Mozart Requiem concert Harnoncourt described.
