RE: Technical issues on this forum

Complaints, grievances, all reasonable and justified. However, this "poor" or "minority" (as once called) site stands on its own integrity and unique character. It is not surprising that some eminent members, for all their complaints, they stay or return...after all.

Fascinating Andrew, but any chance of addressing any of the issues raised by members, even from the wilds of Teddington?

I'm not actually involved in the technology of the site, I'm afraid, but the developers are fully aware of the problems, which also seem to afflict some other Haymarket sites using the same platform. I gather some work is in hand, but more than that I don't know, for which apologies.

RE: Technical issues on this forum

Having spent more than enough time with IT people and website developers during my working life, I have to empathize.

That dreaded mantra, "We're working on it". A couple of days back, trying to respond on the Poppea thread, I discovered the 60-odd character problem is still alive and well. We're coming up to, what? - its 4th anniversary?

Sooner or later the Big Gun that accompanies the classic Talk Softly approach, has to come out.

RE: Technical issues on this forum

Andrew's reply nicely sums up Haymarket's couldn't-care-less attitude to this forum.

Seems like my last comment touched a nerve! Why else delete it?

RE: Technical issues on this forum

Bad luck, Bazza. Two posts deleted! The Mods are obviously in a sour mood this morning.

Have you thought about posting something about discount kitchens? They seem to be quite accepting of that, as a topic.

Happy New Year Andrew! And welcome back to the office!

It seems that something must have been done to reduce the flow of posts unrelated to Gramophone Forum.

That is good news except that it seems to have been accompanied by a big increase in genuine posts swallowed up under the seemingly false promise of having been 'queued for moderation'.

A couple of suggestions:

1. Perhaps you could offer some guidance as to what will constitute a trigger for digestion of the post.

And/ or:

2. Perhaps, as you block the transmission of a post, instead of swallowing up the post it could be retained in the post-box (where we write our posts), so giving us at least a chance to retain the material that we have, sometimes laboriously, assembled. This would save a great deal of frustatioin

Any chance?

Hi Camaron - the missing post should be there now. It originally contained links to CD Baby, which I've removed, and which might have been the problem...

Best,
