bbc radio 3 lossless pilot

The BBC is currently experimenting with lossless Flac compressed broadcasts of Radio 3, i.e. CD Red Book quality.  Thus far it will only work from a current Firefox browser:

For the actual stream: https://radio-3-concert-sound.pilots.bbcconnectedstudio.co.uk/

It does not seem to be geo blocked, so its full glory is also available to those outside the UK.

I particularly look forward to the live performances, given the often very good recording quality with great dynamic range.

drops

Unfortunately the signal drops from time to time, even if we have a rather fast internet connection, and a wired ethernet connection to my home office. The sound quality is nice, however, while listenig to a live concert from Wigmore Hall.

fine yesterday

Things were absolutely fine yesterday during John Butt's wonderful Johannes Passion.
