I've not seen this expression before naupilus - can you expand please?

Kev, it might have helped if I had spelt balloon correctly!!

In a balloon debate you ask each debater to take on one personality (usually somebody famous in their field). We imagine they are all in a hot air balloon which is crashing to the ground. Each perosnality, in turn, tries to explain to the audience why they should survive. When all have spoken the audience eject  one personality from the balloon. Ultimately, after much debating, one person is left. Clearly it is just good fun...

Easy, just get rid of Richard Branson first, put one of the others in control and the balloon will start to rise again.

Alternatively, put the contributers to the Gramophone forum in the basket and we will have a gravity defying amount of hot air, sending us all into space.

I can think of one, not you, but I have no doubt that he will defy gravity or convince himself, and nobody else, that he will!

Thanks for the correction naupilus.  'ballon' being a valid word (the quality of a jump by which a ballet dancer appears to pause in midair - Wiktionary) I was doing mental gymnastics trying to make the definition fit in the context of this topic.  Anyway, I've got it now.  I'm reminded of a similar 'thought experiment' from a while back.

The earth was about to be destroyed by an asteroid but a space ship, able to support only a few people, was in preparation in order that the human race could propagate on a nearby planet.

I'd guess that most forum members would include a musician(s) and a composer but which ones?

RE: Choose one kind of output from one composer

Bach: keyboard concertos

Mozart: piano concertos

Beethoven: symphonies

Bruckner: symphonies

Handel: not possible to name one genre

Haydn: symphonies

Mendelssohn: symphonies

Schumann: symphonies

Liszt: piano concerto
