Happy new year to all of you music lovers.
Happy New Year to all indeed.
Since this is a Classical Music forum it might be interesting to see what anyone of us consider as a proper piece (or full work) to listen for the very beginning of the New Year. I have a great difficulty to chose only one. Probably, Personally, I would opt for the last two movements of Mozart's String Quintet K.593 (a very positive exhilarating happy D major). For the family, I would have to resort to J. Strauss II "The Blue Danube" waltz (another very beautifully positive D major work). However, this is a very subjective matter. So, anyone's choice matters.
All the best for the New Year!
Happy New Year from me too.........
(I'm hoping to play Mozart's Prague symphony some time today or tomorrow.........)
Happy New Year to you Willem, and to everyone!!
This is my suggestion for the first piece of the year: Dvorak’s Serenade for Wind Instruments in D minor, light and totally delicious from beginning to end!!
Happy new year. I can't remember what I listened to first of all - the listening room was constrained by other family members. Telemann's 36 Fantasias for harpsichord have been a gentle source of entertainment. Nothing ear grabbing but all well crafted and agreeable.
Lalo's piano concerto and 'cello concerto have been on the mobile player recently. They were bolder and more "heroic" than I expected. They're not as great as Brahms. Rachmaninov or Dvorak but are worth a listen.
