Is Jonas Kaufmann an exceptional tenor?

There was a time when Kaufmann claimed he was the world's best tenor, but after listening to him I had to disagree.  My favorites are Gigli, Bjorling, McCormack, Tagliavini and a few others.  They are of the old school, but today

I'd still prefer Castronovo or Piotr Beczala to Kaufmann.  One that stands out is Yosep Kang, whose Che Gelida Manina sound way better (to me) than Kaufmann's.  So I do think Parla is right in his "opinion."  I have been studying voice for over 50 years and am both passionate and critical when it comes to real singing.  Please listen to Kaufmann and then compare his version of the same song against Yosep Kang.  Let me know what you think.  Thanks!
