Sale of Gramophone records

Hi

I have a collection of about 1000 gramophone records I inherited from my late uncle. They are all operas. The records are currently in South Africa but we may be moving them to the USA.  How can we evaluate their value and is there anyone interested in looking at them in South Africa?

Many thanks

The overwhelming majority of

The overwhelming majority of classical lps are worth no more than a few UK pounds per disc, even if they are in perfect condition. The only lps which are worth anything are generally certain late 1950s/early 1960s first pressings of things on one or two labels (but not later pressings which can be similar in appearance).  If you google "decca wideband groove" you will find various classical lp dealers who have guides to the more valuable labels and how to identify them. Even then the value is likely to be no more than maybe 10 UK pounds per disc, unless the lp involves some very sort after artist.
