Live Radio Broadcasts

Now with record labels like d' Orfeo, Music and Arts and the defunct but still prized Andante label, remastered past live radio performances are now available on CD. My favorites tend to be from the Salzburg Festival. I however wish that these CD releases would also include the original announcements, interviews, Chesterfield commercials, etc...

With exception to the Saturday live Met performances (which are pre-recorded), there's not much live radio to listen to in the states. I don't know that 'true' live radio even exists today, maybe Gramophoner’s can enlighten me?

I'd like some help with finding live broadcast recordings. What are your favorites and/or most memorable? What recordings do you recommend and why?

Thanks!

RE: Live Radio Broadcasts

BBC Radio 3 broadcasts its genuinely live concert as it happens from somewhere in UK every weeknight, available at 320 kbps on BBC's website (although here in UK I prefer FM). Available on BBC I-Player for a week afterwards although not really much use due to I-Player's low bit rate.

Also I often enjoy the one hour chamber or instrumental lunchtime recital. These are live performances but are sometimes recorded although not the usual Monday Wigmore Hall recital broadcast genuinely live.

RE: Live Radio Broadcasts

Thanks 33lp for reminding me of the live broadcasts on the BBC Radio 3. I'll be glad once audio starts being streamed at CD sized resolution.
