And we're off. i wondered how long it would take.
Don't bother with spotify, Mark. Just listen to what parla has to say. He does know better than the rest of us. And if you find you don't like one of his recommendations, then that's probably a deficiency in you rather than the recording.
You will find as you get to know this forum that parla knows best in everything. Best to leave it at that.
It did not take that long, TL, to react with your usual generalisations and simplifications.
I did not "reccommend" anything but I simply defend the need, for anyone interested a bit seriously in complex and demanding works of Classical Music (like Mozart's Da Ponte Operas), to build a more complete picture of the composer, his works and the history of their performances and recordings along the way.
In any case, in a well-proliferated field of hundreds of recordings of these works, the "try and compare" can work only at random. At least, if he/she knows certain things relevant to his works/recordings of interest (reading some material of sources of authority etc.), he/she may be able to spot what to "try and compare".
Irony completely lost, as usual.
...And the essence of a simple message completely lost, as usual, I'm afraid, TL.
