James reflects on Giulini's recording for DG of Beethoven's Eroica Symphony with the LA Philharmonic

In the run-up to Beethoven year in 2020, 25 journalists from around the world will be choosing their favourite Beethoven 'cult album' for DG's YouTube channel.

In the latest episode of the series, Gramophone's Editor-in-Chief James Jolly chooses Giulini's recording of Beethoven's Symphony No 3, Eroica, with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, a passion for which was sparked by experiencing Giulini's live performance of the Eroica in London in the late 1970s:
