Author:
Although pointing out Fedora's weaknesses, MEO nevertheless drew attention to the fact that it is more than three tunes and a lot of padding, and that at the crucial moments Giordano will produce the goods. However, as a recorded sound-picture a great deal is lost from what is an undoubted 'stagy' event and the attempt on his recording to recapture the atmosphere is only partly successful—even after reading the synopsis and with libretto in hand. However, as a recording it is well accomplished and quite competantly balanced; as such it will be welcomed by those who wish to know the work better, especially as the two principals are in fine voice.'
