Italian Cello Concertos

  • Concerto for Cello and Strings
  • Concerto for Cello and Strings
  • Double Concerto for 2 Cellos and Strings
  • Concerto for Cello and String Orchestra
  • Concerto for Cello and Strings
  • (6) Concertos for Cello and Strings, D minor

This selection of late baroque Italian cello concertos is unusual. World premiere recording status is claimed for those by Jacchini and Platti, while others by Vivaldi (for two cellos) and Leo are no strangers to the catalogue. One more, attributed to Porpora, completes the programme. Period-instrument performances by Lucia Swarts, Richte van der Meer (Vivaldi) and Teatro Lirico are affectionate and stylistically fluent.'
