In the case of Reissiger's Concertino, the influence is so close as to be virtually pastiche. There is the awkwardness with sonata form, a slow movement that includes a passage for solo clarinet over brass in snarling diminished sevenths and then a recitative, and a jaunty finale in the manner of Weber's Clarinet Quintet that ends with the usual fireworks music. If it does all sound rather like material that Weber discarded, it is enjoyable to hear for anyone with a love of the period. So is Danzi's elegant set of variations, on a melody of the kind that once influenced Weber (he wrote variations on a Danzi theme, and owed much to the kindly old man). Kalliwoda's piece begins with something of the fire of Weber's Oberon (in ''Fatal vow'') but then falls off. Nevertheless, especially when played with the dash, the affection and the sense of style showed here by Klocker, it is nothing but enjoyable summer listening. The orchestra and conductor throw themselves into the spirit of the thing, and so do the engineers. Fun.'
