Author: Christopher Nickol
Not surprisingly, Lecaudey sounds most at home in this music by his compatriot. I would describe his playing as flamboyant with generous rubato and lively tempi in the faster pieces (perhaps too fast in the Bach D major Prelude and the first movement of the Walther Concerto).
The clear, faithful recording captures his artistic articulation throughout; only in some sections of the Pachelbel Ciacona was the phrasing a little stilted. The highlights are the Lebègue Suite and the Bach chorale preludes, but the whole CD with its informative booklet can be recommended to lovers of the golden age of 18th-century organs and organ music.
