EMI

Now part of Warner Classics, EMI emerged from the 1931 merger of the Columbia Graphophone Company and The Gramophone Company (and its 1909 label His Master’s Voice). One of the earliest ‘majors’, EMI recorded many of the greatest classical artists of the 20th century including Maria Callas (whose set of Puccini’s Tosca made in Milan has been one of the company’s bestsellers), Herbert von Karajan, Pablo Casals, Artur Schnabel, Jacqueline du Pré, Daniel Barenboim, Nigel Kennedy and Sir Simon Rattle among them.
