Rattle leads the London Symphony Orchestra in Ravel's La valse

The London Symphony Orchestra have just been announced as one of 10 nominees for this year's Gramophone Orchestra of the Year Award, and here we see them very much at home performing Ravel's La valse with their music director Sir Simon Rattle in the middle of London's Trafalgar Square:

The performance was part of BMW Classics 2019, a free concert with an audience of 7000 people of music by Dvorák, Bushra El-Turk, Poulenc, Ravel and Britten, which took place at the end of June. The orchestra has a long history with La valse, having recorded it with Monteux, Frémaux and Abbado, and Rattle has recorded the work with both the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
