BBC Radio 3 and Southbank Centre will join forces in March to broadcast 15 live concerts (including three world premieres) from the Pull Out All The Stops organ festival.

In a novel arrangement, Radio 3 will establish a pop-up studio in the Royal Festival Hall's cafe allowing members of the public the opportunity to witness the live broadcasts of several radio programmes, including: In Tune, Essential Classics, CD Review and Afternoon on 3.

The festival begins on March 15 with an exhibition called The King of Instuments which celebrates the completion of the six-year refurbishment of the Royal Festival Hall's Harrison & Harrison organ. The official organ gala launch concert is on March 18 and features no fewer than four organists: John Scott, Jane Parker-Smith, Isabelle Demers and David Goode, alongside trumpeter Alison Balsom, brass ensembles from the LPO and Philharmonia, the Elysian Singers and conductor Jessica Cottis. This concert will include specially commissioned works by Sir John Tavener and Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, as well as music by Mendelssohn, Bach, Franck, Liszt and Dupré.

Throughout the festival, the new organ will be pushed to its limits by several celebrated organists in solo recitals : John Scott (March 21), Thomas Trotter (March 24), Olivier Latry (March 27), Cameron Carpenter (March 29).
