Barefoot Opera is accepting applications for their upcoming summer course, a six-day intensive focused on breath-work, physical theatre techniques and somatic movement practice.

Barefoot Opera is a community-based Opera company in Sussex, aiming to bring a fun and educational experience of music and singing to the Southeast. They rework the classics and commission contemporary productions, hoping to reach new audiences.

The summer course offers group workshops in responsive breathwork, which they cite as the keystone of their work. Each day begins with Barefoot’s signature ‘Body Voice and Movement’ group workshop and includes a solo masterclass with a voice tutor or coach, and either a movement or drama workshop.

Singers are invited to bring at least two pieces of their own choice to work on throughout the course and will participate in an opera scene to be prepared during the week and performed on the final day.
