The Australian mezzo-soprano receives the $75,000 prize

The 23rd edition of the Concours musical international de Montréal (CMIM) concluded this weekend with a grand finale that spotlighted the future stars of opera. The final round saw an international lineup of young vocalists perform with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal (OSM), under the direction of conductor Patrick Summers.
Australian mezzo-soprano Fleuranne Brockway was named Grand Laureate of the 2025 Voice Edition, earning First Prize following a finale programme of arias from Werther, Carmen and I Capuleti e i Montecchi. A graduate of the Royal College of Music (RCM) International Opera Studio in London, her prize package includes $30,000 in cash, the $40,000 Joseph-Rouleau Career Development Grant (awarded in partnership with the Azrieli Foundation), and the $5,000 Opéra de Montréal Aria Prize, which comes with a role in a forthcoming production by the company.
Tenor Junho Hwang of South Korea was awarded Second Prize and $25,000, while British baritone Theodore Platt took home Third Prize and $20,000, both recognized for their expressive vocalism and refined technique.
