The opera company's collaboration with Pegasus Opera provides four singers with mentoring opportunieis

Glyndebourne and Pegasus Opera Company have announced the names of four singers who are taking part in a mentoring programme on which the opera companies partner.

Launched to address the underrepresentation of classical singers from diverse backgrounds on opera stages, the partnership between Glyndebourne and Pegasus Opera is now in its second year. The programme offers aspiring and emerging artists of African and Asian heritage coaching and mentoring opportunities

The four singers selected to take part are sopranos Jasmine Flicker and Moloko Letsoalo, Baritone Carlos Felipe Cerchiaro and bass Masimba Ushe.

The participants will have opportunities observe rehearsals and shadow established artists at the 2023 Glyndebourne Festival, as well as receiving opportunities to perform for artistic staff and receive feedback to aid their development.

Representatives from Glyndebourne will also attend Pegasus Opera auditions and showcases to help Glyndebourne spot emerging talent and audition for the Glyndebourne Chorus, often a launchpad for a professional career in opera.

Artistic Director of Glyndebourne, Stephen Langridge said: ‘We’re delighted to be partnering with Pegasus Opera Company again this year and to be working with these four excellent young singers. They will each be offered lots of opportunities to experience life at Glyndebourne and learn from established artists and professionals and we hope that their time here will provide inspiration and encouragement as they move ahead in forging a career in opera.’
