The BBC Singers has appointed a new principal guest conductor, Paul Brough. He takes up the post in January, and joins the ensemble’s prestigious line-up of conductors including chief conductor David Hill, conductor laureate Stephen Cleobury, and current principal guest conductor Bob Chilcott, with whom Brough will share the role. Gabriel Jackson is the group’s associate composer.

Brough – director of music at All Saints, Margaret Street and former principal conductor of the Hanover Band – first conducted the BBC Singers in 2007. Since then he has recorded music for broadcast on BBC Radio 3 (including a performance of Benjamin Britten's St Nicolas on the work’s 60th anniversary, with the BBC Concert Orchestra) and conducted them on tour.

Brough’s first engagement with the BBC Singers since officially taking up the post will be a lunchtime concert at St Paul's, Knightsbridge, on January 12, which will be broadcast live on the final day of BBC Radio 3's The Genius Of Mozart celebrations.
