Twenty years after first joining Deutsche Grammophon, Bryn Terfel has signed a new, exclusive, long-term agreement with the label. The bass-baritone will also build upon the relationship – which has produced sales of over 2.3m albums – by launching ‘Snowdonia Records’, a joint venture label dedicated to identifying, developing and recording new talent, both in Britain and internationally.

Part of Deutsche Grammophon's international label stable, and supported by vice president for A&R, Ute Fesquet, ‘Snowdonia Records’ will work across vocal, instrumental and choral music, with the first projects set to be announced in 2014. Terfel will lend his experience, insight and artistic network to the venture.

‘I am very excited, at this stage of my career, to get really involved in finding and nurturing new talent,’ said Terfel. ‘I want to help give young artists the opportunity to record – the same opportunity I was given when I myself joined Deutsche Grammophon over 20 years ago.’

Terfel will release ‘Homeward Bound’ for DG in September, featuring the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. The ambitious project involves 360 choir members and 150 orchestral musicians, and includes folk songs, hymns, spirituals, popular classics, and new songs such as Faith's Call, written by Paul Mealor.
