Born August 24, 1949; died October 19, 2014

Stephen Paulus, the composer of the some of the most radiantly beautiful choral works of recent years has died at the age of 65. The official announcement on Paulus's website reads, 'Stephen passed away peacefully in Minnesota on Sunday, October 19 from complications of a stroke he suffered last year. A prolific composer of over 500 works, he enjoyed writing for a variety of audiences and performers. He was an ardent advocate and mentor to many young composers, co-founding the American Composers Forum in 1973, the largest composer service organization in the world. He was loved and will be missed by many including his wife Patty, and sons Greg, 30 and Andrew, 25.'
