Garsington Opera is launching an online series of documentaries exploring the relationship between music and art.

Called 'Music for the Eyes', the weekly documentary will see a panel of experts take an operatic theme and explore its context within visual art, literature and other areas.

It begins tomorrow by looking at The Marriage of Figaro, with contributions from director John Cox, conductor and Artistic Director of Garsington Opera Douglas Boyd, and 18th Century Curator at the V&A Caroline McCaffrey-Howarth.

The idea is to offer 'A gentle walk through the arts in their broadest sense' says Johnny Langridge, Director of Communications at Garsington Opera. ‘A collaboration between Garsington Opera and art historian Dr Imogen Tedbury, we aim to draw unexpected and playful connections between arts, taking a wider view of particular historic moments through culture. By looking at opera and art side by side we can discover unexpected points of connection that can bring solace through reflection in our current situation.'

Programmes will broadcast on Garsington Opera’s YouTube channel and Facebook page on Wednesdays at 6pm, starting tomorrow.
