Monday, December 3, 2012

Patricia Kopatchinskaja has recently released a two-disc set for Naïve – Gramophone's current Label of the Year – of three Hungarian violin concertos: Béla Bartók's Second Violin Concerto, György Ligeti's Violin Concerto and Seven by Peter Eötvös which commemorates the seven astronauts who lost their lives when the space shuttle Columbia exploded on its return to earth in 2003. Eötvös also conducts all three works.

James Jolly caught up with Patricia Kopatchinskaja at the Engadin Festival in Switzerland to ask her about this important new release. Listen to their conversation in the Gramophone Player or download it from iTunes.
