A new recording of Offenbach's forgotten opera, Fantasio, has been released by Opera Rara. Starring Sarah Connolly, Russell Braun, Robert Murray and Brenda Rae, with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and Opera Rara Chorus, conducted by Sir Mark Elder, the recording is reviewed in the November issue of Gramophone (subscribers to the Reviews Database can read it here).

At the album launch party Sarah Connolly gave a moving performance of one of the outstanding arias from the opera, 'Ballade à la Lune', an exclusive video of which you can enjoy below:
