The cream of the world's musicians are heading to London over the next few months for the BBC Proms, the world's largest music festival. You can as ever listen on the radio or online from many places in the world, and you can enjoy an in-depth consideration of this season’s offerings as well as complete listings in the special Proms issue of Gramophone.

As has become our tradition, we have invited a leading artist to be guest editor of our Proms issue, and this year it’s the leading and very thoughtful violinist - and Proms debutante - Nicola Benedetti. Among the many articles based around the festival’s themes, Nicola interviews the conductor Antonio Pappano.

Also in the July issue:

Mike Ashman seeks the ideal recording of Wagner’s Lohengrin in the Gramophone Collection

In My Music, actor Richard E Grant talks about encountering classical music in Swaziland and using music on set

Reviews include The Florestan Trio in Smetana, Bach motets from Bach Collegium Japan, a triumphant Götterdämmerung from Mark Elder and the Hallé and a witty Sonnambula from Flórez and Dessay.

Available from UK newsagents and bookshops, or by subscription.
