A touching performance of a minuet from the village of Tiukka (Tjöck) in Ostrobothnia

Over the next few months, violinist Pekka Kuusisto will be recording a series of Finnish folk melodies for the Philharmonia Orchestra's YouTube channel. The series ties-in with Southbank Centre’s Nordic Matters festival and the Finland 100 celebrations. Kuusisto has just released the second video in the series, a performance of a minuet from the village of Tiukka (Tjöck) in Ostrobothnia.

Kate Molleson interviewed Kuusisto earlier this year (for the June issue) as part a fascinating article about musicians who are redefining the classical music genre. You can enjoy the full article here: 'Classical music's blurred boundaries'.
