The cactus sings...

The high-priest of experimental music, John Cage, would have celebrated his 100th birthday this year, an occasion that was marked at the Proms with a very special concert featuring works such as the Concerto for Prepared Piano and Orchestra, But what about the noise of crumpling paper..., and Branches – a work for amplified cacti.

The concert also included music by young composers who have been inspired by Cage with performances of Christian Marclay's Baggage and a group piece by David Behrman, Takehisa Kosugi, Keith Rowe and Christian Wolff.
