Our Video of the Day is a beautiful Christmas single from VOCES8’s Artistic Director, countertenor Barnaby Smith accompanied by The Illyria Consort.

Schlafe mein Liebster (Sleep my love), from the second part of Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, will also appear on his BACH disc, to be released on the VOCES8 Records label on 24 February 2023.

Following his debut HANDEL recording, the programme for Smith’s BACH album reflects the annual cycle of the church year. Featuring two iconic solo cantatas, Ich habe genug, BWV 82 and Vergnügte Ruh, BWV 170, the recital is interwoven with arias from Bach’s great oratorios.
