Our One to Watch from December plays an advance track from her debut album

Violinist Coco Tomita was our One to Watch in the December issue, when we reported on her signing by Orchid Classics (always a label worth keeping a close eye on to discover young artists of immense promise).

Tomita was the winner of the strings category at the 2020 BBC Young Musician competition - where Orchid's director Matthew Trusler, who was doing television commentary, spotted her - and her debut album is out in just five weeks' time. It features music by Enescu, Poulenc, Ravel, Debussy, Lili Boulanger and Jenö Hubay – and ahead of its release, Tomita has made this superb film of her playing Ménétrier, from Enescu’s Impressions d’enfance suite for solo violin.

Coco Tomita's debut album, available on Orchid Classics, is released on March 4.
