Jean-Pierre Rampal
Jean-Pierre Rampal restored the flute to the prestigious solo position it had enjoyed in the 18th century. As well as playing much modern music for the flute, Rampal also championed Baroque repertoire. He recorded for Erato from the mid-1950s, with many of the discs receiving awards.
