Today’s Video of the Day is a performance of Naji Hakim’s ‘Sanctus (Missa Cum Jubilo)’ by Gwendeline Lumaret. Naji Hakim’s ‘Missa Cum Jubilo’ for cello solo is based on the Gregorian mass IX for solemnities and feasts of Our Lady. An expressive and ornamented setting of the Kyrie is followed by a more rhythmical Gloria and a joyful Sanctus in perpetuum mobile. A collected and peaceful Agnus Dei recalls the character of the Kyrie, with dense and expressive harmonies. The video was recorded at Cathédrale Notre-Dame du Liban, Paris.
