The Borletti-Buitoni Trust (BBT) will celebrate its 10th anniversary next year with three days of events held in Southbank Centre’s Queen Elizabeth Hall from May 17 to 19. Over the years the Trust has helped to support a number of aspiring young musicians at the outset of their careers through financial awards, networking opportunities and promotion.

Next year’s weekend of events will feature some of the Trust’s most successful recipients in evening performances of chamber music. Among those joining founding trustee Mitsuko Uchida will be Nicolas Alstaedt, Jonathan Biss, the Elias String Quartet, Quatuor Ebène, Martin Fröst, Alina Ibragimova, Henk Neven, Christianne Stotijn, Antoine Tamestit and Llŷr Williams. There will also be opportunities to hear unusual combinations of BBT musicians in late-night, informal performances.

The weekend will in addition include masterclasses by percussionist Colin Currie, clarinettist Martin Fröst, oboist Alexei Ogrintchouk and trombonist Jörgen van Rijen, and onstage interviews with the Elias String Quartet and pianist Jonathan Biss. Plus in the public debate, ‘Is Talent Enough?’, Mitsuko Uchida, Colin Currie, John Gilhooly, Paul Moseley, Martijn Sanders, Tom Service and Sonia Simmenauer will discuss the challenges facing young musicians in the 21st century.
