This recording of the last of the three fine divertimentos for strings and two horns that Mozart composed between 1776 and 1780 (the others are K247 in F and K287 in B flat) is, so their Leader tells me, part of a complete set that the ASMF Chamber Ensemble will record for Philips. The performance is ideal, and the sound of the CD even more lifelike and immediate than that of the LP. The only possible cause for regret is that the associated March, K445/302c is not repeated at the end of the Divertimento itself; there would have been enough room for it on both LP and CD—but of course with a remote control switch it is easy enough to play it again oneself in the CD format.'
