Writing in February, my colleague JBS expressed mixed reactions to the LP and I too find the singing a little on the subdued side. The soloist balance is adequately forward and clear, while the orchestra is natural in tone and well laid out. The chorus perspective is perhaps too distant, and certainly lacks definition in a rather swamping acoustic. That said, Dame Kiri's many fans will doubt less welcome these arrangements of well-known sacred works. Handel's Let the bright Seraphim, which 600 million television viewers worldwide watched Dame Kiri sing at the wedding of the Prince and Princess of Wales in 1981, should by itself guarentee this CD's success.'
