This recording was made a couple of years ago in Studio One of Bayerischer Rundfunk, Munich, the home base of the accompanying orchestra. It is one of a series of recitals which Gruberova has in the CD lists and AB was somewhat hesitant about it when reviewing the LP. He rightly takes a connoisseur's view of such a mixed recital whereas I pick and choose an item here and there from time to time, and usually find the experience enjoyable. This coloratura soprano voice, soaring out from a warm whisper to great power in the high register makes considerable demands on the recording equipment and in turn on your player at home. It has been well handled here, there is a nice balance with the orchestra and the auditorium seems just right for these assorted arias.'
