The lusciousness of this issue, recording as well as performance, comes out the more ravishingly in the Compact Disc format. As is typical of Decca the transfer is relatively high, and that helps towards giving an extra immediacy even over the outstandingly fine LP. Dame Kiri's voice has rarely been caught so seductively, and though the warmth of the sound—giving the atmosphere of heat-haze, apt for these indulgently rich settings of folk-material—makes for limited separation of voice and instruments, the digital recording digitally reproduced has clarity to counter any reservations over that. The bloom on orchestra as well as voice is ideal, with Compact Disc giving an extra impression of reality so that the hushed final section of ''La delaissado'' has Dame Kiri's voice caught on a half tone that reproduces the aural magic of live performances to a degree one has rarely if ever found on LP. The bands—13 in number—follow the pattern of the LP, lumping the two sets of Bourrees together, where it would have been more helpful to have separate bands for the separate Bourrees. The booklet, like the insert included with the LP, gives full texts in English, German and French, as well as the original dialect.'
