The cellist performs his own composition from the upcoming album 'Solo Cello Music' out in early June

An eclectic new work for solo cello is our Video of the Day. The aptly-titled 'Ripplegleam IV' from cellist and composer Colin Alexander's new album 'Solo Cello Music' brings together many years of work by the composer. 'Ripplegleam' is the second of four cello suites spanning 16 movements, each written by Alexander, who says of the album: 'I decided to provide only brief notes for the listener in order to keep the pieces as open or abstract as possible - but with the titles as just enough guidance towards the thinking behind the works.'

The four new solo cello suites by Colin Alexander will be released on October House Records on 7 June. Alexander has also recently composed the music for, and is currently performing in, Bijan Sheibani’s new play The Cord at the Bush Theatre, London.
